Hotel and Travel Information
Hotel Information
A number of hotel rooms in different price categories have been booked in
Milano at preferential rates for the conference, and can be booked using the
following registration form.
More information about the hotels, prices and reservation process can be found
in this document.
Getting to Milan
Milan has two main airports, Linate and Malpensa. Linate is the closer of the two,
reachable by Taxi, while Malpensa is well served by both train and coach services
(the journey will take roughly an hour). The city is also easy to get to from
Orio al Serio airport in nearby Bergamo (also about an hour away by coach).
All the normal airlines fly to Linate and Malpensa, including Alitalia (if they've
not gone bust again), while Bergamo is used by
some of the low cost airlines, at least one of which thinks it's Milan.
Getting to Bicocca
The Università degli Studi di Milano is in the area of Milano called "Bicocca",
which is straightforward to get to using public transport (bus, train, or tram).
The location of the conference is:
Building U2 - Room U2-07
Università degli Studi di Milano Bicocca
Via dell'innovazione - Piazza della scienza
I-20126 Milano (Italia)
Room 07 is in the basement of Building U2, down the stairs as you walk into the building.
A map of the area is available here.
The easiest ways to get to Bicocca is either by train from Milano Porta
Garibaldi or Milano Lambrate to "Greco Pirelli", or tram numbers 7, 11 or 2.
You can normally tell your on the right train, tram or bus by the number of
students dressed like Eminem. Detailed information on getting to Bicocaa is
available at the DISCO web site
here.
- ATM, the milanesi transport authority
- TrenItalia, the Italian Railway company
- A page on Milano's metro which weirdly shows the tram tunnel next to bicocca is
here. If you see that tunnel, get off.
